Residents who receive a positive decision find it increasingly difficult to find their place in the - already saturated - housing market. The search for a home is often difficult, which also limits the departures from the reception centres. That is why Fedasil's new Housing team, together with partners, is looking for solutions to address housing challenges.
Last year, the Reach Out-team of Fedasil reached and informed no less than 2,200 persons in Brussels and Flanders.
Last year, 3,122 persons decided to return voluntarily to their country of origin, including 219 Syrians.
Fedasil recorded a slight decrease in arrivals of asylum seekers last year. However, the reception network remains under pressure.
What gives us hope? Well, the 1,900 volunteers who make a difference every day in our reception centres.
Fedasil can temporarily make use of various sites to accommodate asylum seekers.
The year 2024 was once again marked by the saturation of our reception network, despite a record capacity.
