"Who would have thought that my long-awaited trip to see my grandchildren in Belgium would turn into a stay of several years? Shortly after my arrival in 2011, I fell ill. Surgery was inevitable, and I needed medical assistance for quite some time. The care was excellent, I must say. I am now back in Rubavu, known for the Lake Kivu and the 1994 genocide. I feel warmly surrounded by my family here, but my health is not great. We continue to struggle with the high medical costs."
